Liz Claman, Fox Business news anchor, and Alan Murray, deputy managing editor of The Wall Street Journal, discuss the importance of marketing the news. "This is a visual medium and you've got to be mentally and emotionally attractive to people," says Claman. "If you don't grab people's attention, they're gone," adds Murray.

Should financial media be held accountable for their failure to have warned the public of the current economic downturn? What steps are being taken to avoid this happening in the future?

A panel of leading financial reporters assess the global crisis and discuss the 'perfect storm' of events that led to it. Aspiring journalists will hear how to avoid the perils and pitfalls of the profession, and media observers can decide for themselves if the media is to blame.

  • Another Cheap Anchor in New York...

  • Wow, I suggest you listen to Alex Jones to get REAL news about what corporate owned media interests do not want you to know.

  • What about the Daily Show and the Colbert Report?

  • Love the onions politics but their comedy is hack.

  • the Onion is the best news source out there

  • lol, these media morons know less than the average youtuber.

  • Ah, 'this marketing the news' is why I'm seeing every reality celebrity from the northern hemisphere before I'm told about the latest news from Iran or Iraq. Some stupid girl with star tattoos, some flushed but cute puppy from the US. Forget Iran, tell me the latest on Madelaine McCann!

Do I need news on some stupid z-grade celebrity before the real stuff? No, actually, I don't!

News isn't meant to be 'entertaining'. It's suppose to impart facts that might impact on me.
