Harold arlen wrote this song only for Judy and if she didnt do the Wizard of Oz it has been said Over the Rainbow would not have been in the movie. He knew the magic this young girl had and knew something that none of us did. That is only she coudl put this song over!

My only regret is to not have been born then to see it. I only came in 1993. Pity that I missed this amazing performance.

Oh, what I'd give for a DVD recording of this concert! But I guess some things need to be left to the imagination. I have the record album, the cassette tape, and the CD. I swear, I'd die with a smile on my face! Sigh!

she forgot the lyrics on purpose. She does it at the Amsterdam concert a few months earlier in exactly the same place. It was just to add some excitement to the concert.

No. No one on earth can touch this song. Not the well-intentioned Hawaiian dude. Nobody. Written for Judy. Owned by Judy. It's no secret why no one touched in the past this tune in any remotely high-profile way. Hello. And, honestly, I thought the Asian guy's version was anemic and worthy only of a 4-star elevator in a Maui resort. That's the point of this song: we ALL can sing this fine song, with a ukelele or a kazoo!

But it'll always be a faded imitation of The Only One.

~Fact.~

You can literally hear a pin drop toward the end of the song and hear her actually breathe and she wasnt struggling she sang from her heart and raw emotion because when she sang, it was pure JUDY and true because she was giving everything to her the only constant in her life, which was her fans ... What a woman!

Lorna said it right once in an interview that there are some songs that you shouldnt even try to sing and this is one of them because no one can do it justice so why tamper with it. It will never come across the way it comes across when Judy Garland sings it

Beautifully put! I myself cannot imagine anyone filling this legendary lady's shoes; which is why 40 years after her untimely passing she is still a hit!.....And forever will be!
