Concert in Moscow, 2008
Karel Mark Chichon, cond.

Giuseppe Palomba (fl. 1769-1825)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) in 1789

Alma grande e nobil core
Le tue pari ognor disprezza.
Sono dama al fasto avvezza
E so farmi rispettar.
Va', favella, a quell'ingrato,
Gli dirai che fida io sono.
Ma non merita perdono,
Sì mi voglio vendicar,
Ingrato non merita perdono,
Sì mi voglio vendicar.

From All Music Guide: This is an insertion aria for I due baroni di Rocca Azzura, a musical
intermezzo by Domenico Cimarosa. In it, the lead soprano, known as
Madama, gives someone a piece of her mind, in a mock heroic manner. The
music accompanying Madama's exit, for example, are overly ornate, and we
hear an effect more like skirts bustling off than a furious woman striding
off.
"A great soul and noble heart always scorns your type. I am a noblewoman,
who is used to ceremony, and I know how to make myself attended to. Go,
talk to that ungrateful man, you will tell him that I am faithful. But he
does not merit forgiveness. Yes, I want to take revenge."
Mozart's arias for comic operas often contain moments of genuine emotion,
including anger and scorn, such as No, che non sei capace written for
Il curioso indiscreto, the Queen of the Night's arias from The Magic
Flute, or Figaro's "Se vuol ballare" from Le Nozze di Figaro. This aria,
in which we see the same emotions made absurdly comic, is a fascinating
contrast to those. ~ All Music Guide

  • thanks for the video. I like this one very much. Best singing of this aria i have ever heard bravo! And the conducting is very good. I think they both have the feeling of the aria. Nice tempi too. i really enjoyed hearing it. it really stands out of all the other intepretations.

  • Listen to the same Aria by the unforgettable Maria Stader! Her clarity in voice and simplicity of interpretation suits this Music much more! Stader was taught in a uninterrupted line of Belcanto from Maëstro to Student which you can follow back until 1659 to the founder of Belcanto Pistocchi. That's why she sounded so unartificial compared to todays Interpreters like Garanca.

  • @frufruJ : Never the less, you have shared with us a marvelous gift. Thank you very, very much.

  • Hay cierto desfase entre la voz real de Garanca y el vídeo...A pesar de ello, merece la pena verlo y escucharlo...

  • The crisis stroke Lithuania as well. But the paradox is that the halls became more full. But maybe this is what will be later..

Keep going fufruJ. The time maybe will change.

  • Brava!

  • Wonderful!!! Como siempre maravillosa, gracias por colgarlo =)
