Prevent criminals from 6-second break-ins. Using some wire mesh and a few zip-ties, you can make a small "cage" to prevent this from happening without losing any functionality.

The main advantage of the cage is that it allows the emergency-release cable to still operate. Sure, it would be EASIER to just cut it off and zip-tie the latch, but then what would you do if you had an emergency and needed to quickly release the door from the track?

It's not the ONLY method, nor the best necessarily--it's just something I did to protect against (or at least delay) a forced entry into my garage.

  • If a burglar has enough time and no one is around they can simply pry the door open from the bottom regardless of the door opener being engaged or not. The hardest part is breaking the inertia on that opener arm to get it past vertical so the door will open.

A simple fix is to re-adjust your garage door openers operating arm so that when the door is closed its at almost a 90 degree angle so that any force up from the door will just push the arm up into the opener rail rather than back.

  • @wildbill23c Great tip, thanks!

  • U do know that they could go a lil lower and pull the string and BADABING BADABOOM They r in

  • @tombo12233

As I mentioned previously, the video makes no claims about protection from hooking the rope, and in my experience and testing, hooking the rope was very difficult unless holes are drilled into the garage, etc.

    Try it out for yourself...

  • Your video is misleading, all you have to do is hook the rope you have hanging down, but you probably figured that out by now!

  • @bradstar45

I invite you to come over and try...besides, the video makes no claims about protection from hooking the rope, and in my experience and testing, hooking the rope was very difficult unless holes are drilled into the garage, etc.

  • @64melissa If you see someone drilling a garage door, bust up their truck hahaha

  • If you have windons on your garage door, all I would have to do is smash your window and pull the cord. People with windows on the garage door would have to cut off the metal arm, that is the only way. Leave a little material left on the arm for pliers or channel locks to lock on if you need to use the release.

  • Thanks for the tip dude..............but one rack of my Mossberg will be enough.

  • All anyone need do is pry the door from the floor with a bar. With a good pull you can simply force the opener motor backwards. Granted it is difficult but doable by a single person. As my son once showed me.When i ask how he go into the house when i wasnt home once. He didnt want to wait for us to get home.

  • Inwould go through the front no wire

  • if someone wants to get in your house they will get in!!
