Mission Statement

Located below the snow line and above the fog line the Placerville Airport is a logistical dream come true. With operations ranging from flight instruction to life-flight, the Placerville Airport shines tried and true as an invaluable asset to our communities. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Placerville Airport, fundraise for the Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado County Western Slope and involve the general public in our local airport and its operations we are hosting the Placerville Airport Day tentatively set for October 3, 2009.
For the past 80 years the Placerville Airport has supported operations such as flight instruction, military flight training, aircraft maintenance, fueling, business jet operations, fire-fighting, aircraft sales, life-flight, business meetings and more. During the 1980s, the Air Force flew the C-130 Cargo aircraft into Placerville for training purposes and now the California Army National Guard regularly flies their UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters as well as King Air fixed-wing aircraft into the Placerville Airport for training purposes. Another service provided is from CALSTAR, the California Shock Trauma Air Rescue operation now based at Placerville. CALSTAR provides rapid air response and rescue in the form of Life Flight to those most in need of medical care to our immediate as well as surrounding areas.
The Placerville Airport remains irreplaceable and it is our goal to invite the public to enjoy a day of appreciation for the airport while raising funds for such a noble cause. It is, however, the youth which we intend to make the most impact. While the general public may attend, it is the youth of today who will be running our world tomorrow. By contributing to the Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado County Western Slope and the Placerville Airport Day we are essentially ensuring the world an even better and brighter future. Other youth to attend will be from the local middle and high schools as well as local colleges in the area. To spark interest in the minds of children through young adults is to ensure the continuation of the aviation community and bring the local area together.
As a fundraising activity for the Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado County Western Slope, our efforts go toward the cause of improving the quality of life of our youth. The Boys & Girls Club mission statement is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Boys & Girls Club has consistently provided a safe place for our children and young adults to go and further their education, build and approve upon their social skills, have fun while coming together to ensure the flourishing success of todays future leaders. Through the use of special tools such as Tech Centers, Gymnasiums and class-room type areas for homework and study-hall activities, the staff of the Boys & Girls Club is able to provide a significant amount of assistance and guidance to its members. Our local Boys & Girls Clubs are in need of, equipment, a Teen Room, counseling programs and much more. Funds raised for the Club at the Placerville Airport 80th Birthday Expo will make a considerable change and help substantially.

I have flown into Placerville a Couple of times..and I have to say its one of the most beautiful places I have been to..amazing airport..beautiful location....and friendly people.
