I ran across directions for dehydrating eggs in an old cookbook and thought I'd give it a try. I do not recommend dehydrating eggs, this is for informational purposes only. This is from Mrs. Rorer's New Cook Book which was published in 1902.

  • Can u tell me what kind of dehydrator u have please

  • @soonfully It's a Nesco Snackmaster and it works great. You can buy additional trays and stack them 12 high if you want to.

  • Very interesting experiment...thank you for all the research work. I believe I will stick to commercially packaged egg powder too.:)

  • @1930sgirl The commercial powdered eggs aren't that much more expensive and if you buy in quantity and catch a sale, it brings the cost down to pretty much what store bought eggs cost.

  • Since you have a blender, put whole eggs in your blender first. This will cut the egg whites into tiny pieces and introduce some air to start. The lighter mix should dry without becoming so hard and powder easier, Worth a try.

Many people are gently cooking the eggs before drying them to pasteurize. Again, cutting up those raw whites first makes them much easier to handle. Love the stuff you come up with. Thanks,

  • @hopenchrist777 Thanks, I'm looking forward to it. There must be some little trick that we don't know about.

  • @BexarPrepper No, they didn't taste grainy at all, which was surprising. They had the same texture and taste of what they were, mostly egg whites and just a little yolk. I'm actually impressed by how well the whites worked out. The yolks need some work.

  • Did they still taste grainy after rehydrating? Glad you tried it cause I trust your opinion. Blessings!

  • @imstillworkin Upon my mothers return from out of town, I will obtain all the details and get back with you on that. I remember some things but not enough to provide you with supplies, directions, and equipment used for this process to be effective. I'll let you know...."Stay tuned - and we will be right back with our show" lol Peace my friend. :)

  • @imstillworkin I hear you on the practical end of things, we could all use more of that.:)
