I recently bought a sputnik i was using it with pro tools 10 and M-audio project mix i/0 I used it for couple of weeks and it sounded great. But recently when i try to record or just press record enable i get a nasty distortion sound I don't know if i ruined my tube mic? Any help will be appreciated. thanks

Omni sounds the best to me, at least with youtube compression, very open and natural. And I don't hear any background noises... Cardioid is a bit nasal, compared to omni, and 8 is something inbetween. But what is that ringing sound, when you switch patterns? Microphone body shouldn't resonate like that!

@impachetezfummp3 i don't know much about this microphone so i think you should go for Rode k2
-
would you recommend this for hip-hop/r&b? I'm between this and the rode k2...Pls answer!!!!:)

If i hear this MIC... and inmediately switch to the other videos you have with Newman TLM 49 and the Blue mouse, the other videos sound stronger.. is there any diference? Or you just put the volume up on the other videos?

Good to hear from you! The Sputnik is unique in so many ways.

I love my Sputnik. I use it for lots of VO work, singing, acoustic guitar and even some foley sounds. I don't line the screw that tightens the shock mount. It's hard to tighten, and slips a little. I see you have a larger handle on the screw that would be easier to get some leverage when tightening. Did you buy that separately? Mine is much smaller.

The shock mount screw is the one that came with the microphone.
This mic has a really 'bright' sound. Some like it and others don't. As always, it depends on the voice, room and the type of work you do.
If you use if for all of the above, I can see where the different patterns would be a real advantage.
Thanks for watching!
