For some people, posture decline makes it seem like the head is retracting into the shell, like a turtle. In actual fact, the head moving forward causes an execessive curvature, causing the neck to shorten and thicken. Muscles and ligaments in the back become tight and rigid, holding a lot of stress and causing pain. Muscles in the front are stretched and weak.
The Turtleneck exercise works to stretch out the tight and condition the weak to hold each other in balance. When your center of gravity is restored, the turtle (your head) can come out of its shell and feel supported.
