this my vid on How To Get That "Green Day" Tone
as i said Les paul Juniors and Les Pauls are the Best guitars.... P90 soap bar pick ups, hum buckers, Burst Bucker pros, and Semour Duncan SH-11 customs are all the best pick ups for this. for pedals i say the BOSS DS-1 Distortion, Boss Super Distortion, BOSS Blues Driver, BOSS Super Distortion are optional pedals. The Settings on My Line 6 Spider 3 amp "Drive 10" "Bass between 5 and 10" " Mid 4" "Treble 10"

  • lol i have a yamaha pacifica and a roland micro cube amp, and i just cant seem to get a good green day tone, does anyone know how to get it, lol btw i know my equipment is cheap but i cant afford to buy better equipment

  • @VansSk8Girl Dose your amp have a gain knob? if so turn it 8/10 up and your treble up and and and try 1/3 bass and or middle

  • thank you dude... im going to buy an epiphone les paul jr or a epiphone les paul special 2.. which is better for Green Day tone? the junior is cheaper, but i dont know..

  • @GreenDay4life2k if i where you i would go with the higher end lp junior

but the LP special is realy not that great but its worth it to save up for the higher end modle

  • @hahahahahaha102 Yep.

The closest I can get on my solid state Fender is: Treble 10, Mids 8, Bass 6, gain 6, but mine's still missing something [and not just a tube amp].

    Anyway, hope that helps.

  • @penningtonant Because it's a solid, versatile, crunchy rock rhythm tone that's not quite metal but not quite vintage. This video is just a crude solid-state semblance to the "Dookie" modded Marshall Plexis Green Day actually uses, and the author of the vid's EQ is off, so of course it's not as good. This video sucks, but it isn't a bad tone at all.

    But, haters gonna hate.

  • Anyone ever tell you, that you kinda look like RJ burger? lol

  • green day has good tone but the tone in video is shit mate

  • Why would anyone want a 'Green Day' tone?

  • For one, use Old School 60's-70's Marshall's Amps, Humbuckers, 60's Stratocaster, Medium-Picks, Lots of Backing treble. I figured this out from constantly messing around with my stuff.

  • Great video man! To add to this: when I found some old photos from early Green Day-gigs, I saw a Marshall JCM900 behind Billie Joe, and at the Woodstock '94 show he was using a Marshall Plexi. But here's a tip for y'all: for the Green Day tone, indeed use a humbucked guitar, a valved Marshall-like amp, but don't 'scoop out' the middle tone, and use lots of treble. Cheers!

  • @xxKishotexx did you say tone all the way up?

  • Thanks

  • You're using the second channel which is based off a Plexi..... How Billie Joe got his sound, ripping off the brown sound, a boosted Plexi, or a Marshall boosting a Marshall...... Wish I could afford a studio faded as well, instead, I bought a Standard and a tube amp with a boost pedal..... Green Day tone? All you need is a tube screamer to get the "Brown Sound"
