Yes, Roe v. Wade established that the right to privacy, established in Griswold v Conneticut, encompassed the right to an abortion. It also *explicitly* stated that that right did not extend to abortion on demand & that the states had the right to at some point (at the time it was based on trimesters) take the fetus' life into consideration. "Anti-life" (if you want to play it that way) advocates would have a fit if Roe was upheld the way it was written.

That is why Roe V Wade stills stands because no court will hear a case that has no solutions that will not have cataclysmic consequences for societies, families, doctors, woman and the criminal justice system.
