During a public hearing on HB 440 - which seeks to join a lawsuit challenging the new health law and also to bar the NH Insurance Department from enforcing new consumer protections under that law - Representative Jeanine Notter (R-Merrimack) told cancer patients to instead rely on community fundraisers and bake sales for their health coverage:

"Americans are generous people, they've been known to be generous people, and I think that when - maybe you'll agree with me - that when someone in their community has cancer and no insurance, they're going to rally, they're going to fundraise, and they're going to get the treatment that person needs." (HB 440, Public Hearing, 2-3-2011)

  • So, the GOP plan if you get seriously ill? Begging .

  • She LIES. Many sick people don't have extended family or friends. Nor should people have to beg for care when they are ill.

  • Rep. NOtter, like many GOPers, doesn't have a clue and lacks humanity.
