Osamu Tezuka's "Galaxy Boy Troop" (aka Le Commando De La Voie Lactee) was co-produced by Mushi Studios and the Takeda marionettes. Although very popular in its time and running nearly 100 episodes, only a few fragments of the series survive. The only surviving episodes are bi-lingual; Japanese with french narration and subtitles. I took my hand at translating a segment of the French subtitles to English, so enjoy Le Commando De La Voie Lactee (roughly translated "Commandos Of The Milky Way")
The Story: Aliens have begun bombing earth from their base on the dark side of the Moon. A group of heroes led by Commander Rop & Mister 6 (his intelligent computer car) have embarked for the moon, using the last surviving spacecraft, on a mission to find and destroy the lunar base.
BTW the musical score is by Isao Tomita, his first work for Tezuka.

I hope there'll be more people uploading this rare TV show in the future, or get to know about it! This is awesome! Just like Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation technique!

The original Japanese title of this show is 銀河少年隊, If those of you could read Japanese or Chinese, you might find further things about this show, by searching this title.

I've also read the show used "Osamu Tezuka's Star System", which means the characters from different Tezuka's works might appeared in puppet form!

Was this the 1st attempt at the Sci-Fi standard of the assembling of a 'multi-national team' to save the Earth. Here we see at least 2 Gijan (A Yank & a kid from Mexico)! In future froms of these story lines, each of the heros could be from different parts of the world!

Je savais pas, c'était aussi en spectacle français. Ce vieux titre semble avoir rendu les gens si excitées que ce tour, je pense, aurait dû leur faire rêver ! =D

Never mind, I found the DVD! It's called "NHK Ningyougeki Chronicle series VOL.3 Takeda Ningyouza no sekai Kuuchuu toshi 008" on cdjapan, and it's also available on Amazon Japan.

I just ordered it. Apparently it has episode 67 of this show along with a few other old puppet shows. I hope the episode is complete.

How come does Google have no results of people from France talking about this show? Anyway, more clips please! Is there a bootleg of this out there?
