@justascarletwoman 'rich' kids. They didn't go through the same shit as Dave, so of course they don't have the same kind of resentment that he has for the 'system' in general. That's why you can listen to Endgame and Countdown to Extinction and feel the same bitterness while in retrospective, Metallica's muse, that anger present in their songs, was nothing more than teenage rebellion born out of disgruntled suburb kids who wanted to be different from their parents.

People always complain about Metallica "selling out", but the truth is any artist knows that you can only adhere to a set style for so long. People don't consider that what fueled trash metal in their beginnings was anger and disappointment; and as you grow up you tend to leave that anger behind, so it's only understandable that Metallica drifted to 'softer' music with the years, no longer driven by the same things. I agree, I'm a fan of both Metallica and Megadeth too. I'm a fairly new heavy metal fan after listening to a friend's Metallica tracks from his MP3 and I've now discovered I really like Megadeth too. Surely it should just be about appreciating great music....whoever's playing it!

@Juakotrasher basically, it was lars (the most replaceable member) who chucked dave - cliff took a back seat and james was upset he was leaving, and cliff and dave stayed moderatly friendly up until cliff's death.
