I take melatonin every night. I don't think it's ever given me strange dreams, but then again, I wouldn't be able to differientiate between a normal dream and a weird one, because as I said, I take them every night, and dreams differ. But I love it. I think it works better for me than sleepaids, like unisom. It's a relaxing sleep too. It doesn't knock you out, it just kind of gradually sets you into this nice, sleep mode.

I don't dream at all on melatonin.. but I do sleep VERY well with no disturbing dreams either:) I wish I had tried this earlier for my delayed sleep phase syndrome.

doesn't melatonin strip the body from its natural functions, such as producing this hormone and later on no longer being able to produce it?

Lmao these comments are hurting my stomach...its 9am and I'm thinking about going to cvs to get some right now. I haven't slept right in four days!

I have autism spectrum syndrome, and I dont know if its the cause, but as long as I can remember I have sleeping difficulties. Melatonin is my saviour and I love the stuff for it. However, I'm still not sure about the effects of the stuff because surely, there has to be a downside to it apart from my body adjusting to it (in which I'm making sure I dont use melatonin to often).

I love dreaming on melatonin. They are totally lucid! I also use melatonin as a workout supplement.

@vallie30 Yes it is very possible that chemical you mentioned shuts down melatonin production. So do psychiatric drugs which shut down everything completely.

My dreams are weird when I take it. Also, when I watch tv while dosing off, my brain will try to recreate the tv show scene by using the audible dialogue from the show.
