Readers Theater 2009 The Stinky Tofu Man

The Stinky Tofu Man is an adaptation of the story The Stinky Cheese Man from the book The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by Jon Scieszka.

A little old lady and her husband were lonely. The little old lady made a man out of stinky tofu and put him in the oven to bake. When she opened the oven to check whether or not he was ready, the Stinky Tofu Man jumped out of the oven and ran away. The little old lady and her husband decided not to chase the Stinky Tofu Man because he smelled so bad.

The Stinky Tofu Man met a cow, two children and horse but they also thought that he smelled bad and did not want to chase him. The Stinky Tofu Man ran until he arrived at the Danshui River. There was no bridge across the river and it was too wide for the Stinky Tofu Man to jump across. He could not swim across the river because he would break up and fall apart in the water.

A fox offered to carry the Stinky Tofu Man across the river on his back. The fox swam to the middle of the river but found the smell so bad that he threw the Stinky Tofu Man off his back. The Stinky Tofu Man broke up and fell apart in the water which is why to this day, no one ever swims in the Danshui River.

Students from Kang Chiao Bilingual School presented this script at the Taipei County Readers' Theater Competition in 2009.

I loved that fucking book growing up

I think maybe it was very developmental for me. To this day I just love nonsense. At least if it's creative.

The way the book was written (as in presented) really spoke to the absolutely unglued minds of the characters.
