We'll bring you part 1 of a Play View to Shenmue for the Dreamcast. Matt brings us to the Retro Gaming Expo in Portland, Oregon. There's also reviews to Fast Food for the Atari 2600, and Luigi's Mansion for the Gamecube.

  • You picked friggen kung fu over zelda?

    Ouch.

I'm 24, i don't remeber how old i was when i got an nes, but i do remeber beating kung fu really quick, and spending a really long time on zelda, and then there was the second quest.

They hosed you with that choice man.

  • I think the box art for Zelda did not appeal to my sister at the time. This was like 1986, 87. So I did not know how kick ass Zelda would be until Jason brought it over at the next birthday party. Then I knew I had to have it.

  • The voice over is horrible in Shenmue. I can see why you HATE this game and are so damn critical of it, you were born in the 60's, and are used to one button 'ol fashioned goodness....

But seriously, try Shenmue (or ANY game for that matter) with a more open perspective. If you don't like games like this, please, PLEASE review games you actually ENJOY! All of the other parts of the show were fun, informative and interesting, but the Shenmue segment was BORING.

    Great videos by the way.

  • Wow, you made me sound old. I was born in 78, but lots of people seem to think I'm in my 40's anyway, so we'll move on. Thanks for the kind words about the show. I should point out that the show isn't about reviewing games we all enjoy and love. Part of what makes the show great is stirring up a little controversy here and there. I'm critical of Shenmue for many reasons, mainly that graphics do not make a game. There also has to be great gameplay, and I didn't find it here.

  • If you ever play Shenmue again, go back into Ryo's house and check the cabenit under the TV in the living room, theres a Saturn there that you can play old games on!

theres also stores later on you can buy Saturn games from.

How he owned a Saturn in 1986 is anyones guess, he should have sold the technology and become a millionaire!

Also The Wizard, for some reason always reminded me of a kids version of Rain Man.

  • shenmue is a great game, probs one of the best of all time!

  • i was born in 93 and i think these type of games are much better than these craptastic call of duty games all call of duty is, is an online trophy to how long people can waste their time shooting other people "i do like CoD, but these games are 10000x better"

  • Not all younger gamers prefer the current generation. I'm personally a bigger fan of the SNES era and the PS1 era then the current one (though the Wii is a good console...)

  • oh im so sorry about that. Can you please tell me what exactly you were doing, when you ranted about Shenmue? also, I made a mistake about when I was born i meant to put early 1990 (November 1990 was when i was born)

  • What I did was not a review of Shenmue. Pay attention. If you don't agree with what I have to say, you could always not watch. You're not doing anything with this comment but showing me the truth about the modern gaming generation.

    Take it somewhere else, junior.

  • not true! I was born (late) 1990 and I know what's considered 'classic' or 'vintage' I consider the nes to be classic, anything newer i consider moden. and btw, your review of Shenmue was poorly done. Stick to classic games reviews if you want to make a statement. As you, said 'I dont understand any of it' SO DONT MAKE ANY (Irresponsible) JUDGEMENTS!!!!!!
