What'll You Do About Me?
(Copyright 2008 by David Leggett)

You say you're gonna tell the past "goodbye"
Build a new life with another guy
You say you can't take no more of
The things I did carelessly
But I'm still a reminder
What'll you do about me?

You say you're gonna learn to try again
Change the condition you've been living in
You're gonna right all the wrong things
In life that you've had to see
That's all well and good
But what'll you do about me?

Put me out
I won't go away
Because in your heart
You want me to stay
Go ahead and tell me to go
Deep down, you still want me so

You say you've made a clean break, anew
Who are you telling that to? Me, or you?
You can send me away
But I'll stay in your memory
You've planned out your future
But what'll you do about me?
You've decided the outcome
But what'll you do about me?

  • David...I loved to see that on record brother. Why don't you try it, I will be the first fan of yours to buy the record. God bless you my friend and more power to you.

  • Really? Thank you so much! I am so flattered....

  • I DO like my vocal on this. I think this is one of the better ones as far as my singing is concerned.

  • That was really pretty David.Thank you for sharing.5*****s.Shirley

  • Thank you for checking this out, Shirley. Your comment means a lot to me. I'm glad that it sounds pleasing to the ear. If people can't get past the sound of a song, they won't listen to the words.

  • aw, that is sad. amazing writing, though. I'm glad you copyrighted this because its excellent! 5*****

  • I can always count on you to give me a good, constructive, but honest view of my work. That is a good thing. I notice that my songs are getting "lighter"...a lot of the heavy-topic songs are the older ones. I'm fairly proud of all the songs I've been given that I've posted on YouTube, but I am glad that the newer ones are a little more upbeat. As Vince Gill learned, you can hand the public only so much heartache before it starts to get old...

  • Beautiful song, nice job!

  • Really? I am always surprised when people compliment my singing. Thank you, I've been trying to improve some things about my vocals.

The song works. I must admit, I never dreamed that I'd write one like this, but it all started with a chorus and just grew from there.

  • Thanks, Sandra...and thanks for your help on that favor I mentioned, too. You are a true friend.

  • Thanks! I've got a modern rockabilly song that I'm working on right now that ought to be more "down your alley". It has a rhythm riff that just smokes!!

Thanks for believing that I can do a lot of stuff. Its like you say- I do try to do my very best.

  • Hi David, Great video! I really loved the song. Thanks for sharing my friend. Take care and God Bless! 5*****. Your friend, Sandra
