Paul pretty much confirms what Eric's book says. Damn that is so sad. Not only did we lose Eric, who was the greatest drummer KISS has had, It just shows how Paul and Gene conduct business. I am a huge KISS fan, but that is very dissappointing information. RIP Eric, we miss you.
What Paul fails to mention is that Eric cut all ties to them is because they were looking to fire him and terminate his health insurance. If you have cancer and had open heart surgery, the last thing you need is your benefits cut. If he never saw them or had any contact, he couldnt be terminated. Erics parents confirmed this story....Paul & Gene were looking to save the companies losses. It sucks to hear that, but it was true....
@DefLeppardVanHalen Then Paul and Bruce should have and could have stuck by him. Gene is one man in a band...granted he's an important part, but what could he have done if the rest the guys had refused? Fire them all....doubtful. Paul and Bruce were adult men that had a choice and turned their backs. Paul admits it himself in the video. What's done is done so no point arguing, but some situations are black and white...and this is one of them.
@DefLeppardVanHalen Yeah, that's why they wouldn't let him play with the band. James Hetfield got up there with a broken arm - I know that isn't as life threatening, but the guy wanted to play. Paul and Gene should've let him play till his dying day. I'm surprised Paul is actually admitting to how he and Gene treated Eric, not as a band member but a piece of commercial property.
I believe Paul Stanley was torn apart, as was Bruce Kulick, about the whole Eric Carr situation. I believe Paul and Bruce was more compassionate about Eric's situation than Gene Simmons was...supposedly, with all due respect.
I am a Kiss fan but it was obvious that Eric Carr was sick during the taping of God gave Rock and Roll to you. The least they could have done was show a little more of him playing the drums, considering it could have been the last thing he would have done. And it was. They only showed him (and Bruce) in tiny flashes. The video was all Gene and Paul. Always centerstage. They couldnt put the new album on hold for just a few months and been there for Eric. He was always there for them.
Too bad KISS didn't have any love for him. Paul and Gene should take a page from the Queen playbook and learn what it means to stick by your bandmate and not kick him when he's down. You don't kick your brother to the curb just so you can keep on going and making money. They didn't do it for the fans or for Eric, they did it for themselves. Selfish bastards then and selfish bastards now!
