Bascially, the story's about John (Get it?) Marston's drinking habits and how he struggles to quit as his family's begging him to come home. When he receives a letter from Abigail he realizes that his family needs him more than ever. John remembers the times in his life before he started drinking and wishes it could be that way again. But it's not easy. He's also reminded of the times where him and Abigail got into fights, went to jail, and passed out because of his drinking probem. When he's on the verge of drinking again out of his own pity, John has a dream that he will forever remain a passed out drunk unelss he comes home. John has no choice but to do so.
