Information About The Fort Collins Housing Authority Resident Services Program:

Mission: To provide and promote safe and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a living environment free from discrimination. Affordable housing options for every income level.

Because our properties are owned by non-profit public entities that exist to provide affordable housing for low income families, we treat our tenants like people, not profits. The Fort Collins Housing Authority has many programs and options to assist you in finding a home, regardless of your income.

* Villages Affordable Housing Program
Flexible, affordable options to fit your lifestyle, from apartments to single family homes for singles, couples, or families. Affordable rents based on YOUR income, as long as you are above our low minimum income requirements. Flexible lease length & security deposit option, even poor/no credit.

* Housing Choice Voucher
The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) provides rental assistance to your landlord on behalf of low-income families. Rent is set by the landlord and approved by the Housing Authority.

* Project Based Voucher Program
The Project Based Voucher Program is similar to the Housing Choice Voucher Program except you must live in a specific unit for at least one year .After the first year, if a Voucher is available, you can use the voucher rental assistance with private landlords.

* Fort Collins and Wellington Public Housing
The Housing Authority owns apartments, duplexes, and houses, which it rents to eligible individuals and families. Public Housing is scattered throughout the city, including many Old Town locations and sites near bus lines.

* Northern Hotel Program
This beautiful historic building in Old Town Fort Collins has been renovated to provide one- and two-bedroom apartments for families in which the head of household or spouse is 55 or older.

* Transitional Housing
Transitional housing for homeless single men and women. Residents rent a private room, with shared bathrooms, kitchen, and living area. The process is relatively quick, from application to receiving keys, can be within 3 months.

* Self-Sufficiency Programs
The self-sufficiency programs are designed to help families receiving housing assistance become economically self-sufficient and independent of welfare through classes in: Life skills development, Credit counseling, Parenting and Classes that help participants reach their goals.

* Home ownership Program
The Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership Program enables a current holder to use that voucher to assist with a mortgage payment as opposed to a rent payment.
