Eight lap heat race All American Speedway, Roseville California 9/19/09. 37 Chevy East Coast Pavement Modified grouped with the Supermodifieds. Driven by Dave Stewart of Pacifica, CA finished 3rd of six cars (the results of the feature later this day was somewhat disappointing). The 92 Car was driven from 1995-2008 by Bob Pringle up and down the East Coast (Maine to Florida). The original car owner in the sixties was Leo "the coat" Matte, original builder was Jake Hafke, original drivers of this version of Leo's 92 cars were Jack Lecuyer and Tony 'Jap' Membrino. Car ran at Riverside Park in Agawam Massachusetts and Jap also ran it on dirt at Lebanon Valley where a broken tranny while leading cost him the race. While Jake's signature build was 3 window coupes, Bob left this a 5 window during the restoration, because he was bigger than Jack or Jap. Car was found in Agawam MA by one of Leo's original crew, Bob Warner, due to illness Bob Pringle ended up with the car and finished the restoration, Rusty Ball completed the mechanical/chassis restoration when the car was finished Bob Pringle and Jake visited Leo in Virginia to show him the car. Leo not wanting to break his promise to his wife about quitting racing wouldn't leave his house. They finally coaxed him out to see the car. Leo Matte and Bob Warner have passed away. More complete history is still being researched. The current owner (me, who purchased the car in early 2009) has had the privilege to speak to Bob Pringle, Rusty Ball, Jake Hafke, Tony Membrino and Mike Joy (who got his start at Riverside Park. Tracking down Jack Lecuyer is still ongoing, any leads would be appreciated.
