Two American contractors can go ahead with a civil lawsuit over allegations they were wrongfully held and tortured in Iraq by the U.S. forces. Donald Rumsfeld, the country's former Secretary of Defence, could be held personally liable. The two men worked for a private security company in Iraq in 2006 when they highlighted concerns their firm was engaged in corruption. They were detained for nine months at a U.S. military facility near Baghdad airport and released without explanation or charge. Brian Becker from the anti-war coalition says this case could open a door to punishment for officials from the Bush administration, accused of torture.

  • "In 2007, U.S. District Judge Thomas F. Hogan ruled that Rumsfeld could not "be held personally responsible for actions taken in connection with his government job."[79] The ACLU tried to revive the case in 2011 with no luck.[80]"

  • Damn! I ain't never heard of a rich white man who couldn't leave the country! :)

  • it is rediculous that gov. officials can committ crimes and then turn around and either classify the documents to hide their crimes or plead immunity to prosecution, a good long look needs to be taken into both the Bush and Obama administrations and every single criminal act needs to be brought to justice; the US was never meant to be a gov. that condones torture, assasinations, and the murder of hundreds of thousands of people foreigners and countrymen, the US is in the worst shape ever :(

  • @offwiththefairies77 A fact it maybe. But suggesting Govt influence on this media outlet is pure bs.

  • @DigitalDNA Simply stating a fact my friend. By the way, i'm a lover not a fighter

  • @offwiththefairies77 So what? Government funding has nothing to do with their correspondent ethics, or how they run it.

You're being mislead. Don't pick a fight with me over this either. You will lose.

  • @brentpieczynski Agreed. If the judicial system plays ball with the people.
