  • Where did you get the historic footage?

  • @KellstersMom Various websites that have WWII newsreel footage.

  • guys do you know what was his occupation before he died?

    or was he retired?

  • He was retired. But he was an executive for a textile company in NYC prior to that. This interview was conducted in 2001. He died in 2005.

  • Oh thats sad. When did he die and how old was he?

  • He died in 2005 of heart failure. He was 81 and passed away quietly in his own home.

  • I wish I fought in WWII that seemed like the most important war.

  • RIP brother. Another generation perhaps but we belong to the same fraternity. See you soon.

  • @1985woooman Its pretty hard for them to talk about it something that devastating can take a toll on you, my uncle served in Vietnam and his left ear is all messed up from a grenade that nearly killed him. He talks about it but some of the stuff is pretty gruesome.

  • my grandpa was in ww2 hes stiil alive..he was on a ship in the navy

  • this is my father. I will always be grateful to phil for this wonderful footage he preserved for youtube. My father was an amazing man, as so many of the vets are. And as a Dad, he was incredible. Just an all around terrific guy.
