Dumbing down God - Ex-gay ministries

This video is a response to a person who was in an ex-gay ministry who is reported as having said that "people crawl around on the floor of bars and have homosexual sex" and that they get "demonic power." This individual continues saying that they "cleanse and bind demonic powers out of" the following areas:

1. Females' uterus cavities
2. Genitals
3. Anal canals
4. Intestines
5. Throats and mouths

This is a perfect response to the ignorance that is out there. My cousin just came out and I am one of the few that is trying to keep him from being sent to a camp. I always ask people when they say gays corrupt marriage "Is your wife or husband just a trophy to hold over the gays or did you get married because you love one another?"

I am very concerned about ex-gay ministries and counselling. Generally, it is considered unethical by mental health professions. There are some suicides that have been associated with ex-gay counselling/ministries. That does not prove they caused a suicide, but it really concerns me.

Thanks for the post. You make good points. After I posted the video, I thought about the desperation people have to become straight. I think some people are so desperate to make God and the church love them that they will buy into things they probably know are really stupid. In my opinion, ex-gay ministries are toxic.

Thanks for your blog Gary. People who are lost will believe in anything. As I've journeyed into faith, I recognise the transcendence of God over any of the limitations man puts upon him. Also,of the importance of going directly to the well to drink the living water from Christ's cup, as opposed to drinking from someone else's cup purporting to contain living water.
