That's completely correct, most professional musicians you encounter don't limit themselves to reviewing only performances on their own instrument.

Basically, yea, the only requirement for criticism is knowledge - but, of course, there are kinds of social circumstances/situations where opening one's mouth while not having any sufficient skills is kinda stupid :)

And yea, had 5 minutes to spare that day :)

Btw, thanks for the Ravel's "Jeux d'eau" tip, I've been listening to it on a repeated basis since then :)

Well, just like the awesome piece one started learning a year ago and then dropped (in the "kinda been a year since then and oops" way) - in my case, such as Rachmaninoff's a-minor study (damn, I so drooled when I had the sheet music in my hands for the first time...) - I've kinda not thought about those questions since then.

I definitely think there is something to the way Kastle's cascade sounds (not necessarily in terms of the actual notes and detailed execution), but I really should...

... should put some thought into that in the near future - it was really an interesting topic (in Germany, we use to blame the "inner ratfink" for this kind of fail... damn).

Hey, just out of curiosity, and interesting developments in the Kastle debate? At some point, I just thought "meh", you know :)
