The University of Georgia "Redcoat Band". This is a 2002 exhibition at a high school marching contest at Jacksonville Beach, fl. The Ga-Fla game was later on in the afternoon. Not a bad show after spending the night at the Landing in Jacksonville and then staying up all night in St. Augustine. The worlds biggest outdoor cocktail party--Ga-Fla game. (now politically incorrect to call it by that name)My nephew played the "glory" solo at the game. Sousaphones rock the stadium at the end of Pines of Rome!

  • Yes! This is what we should sound like... maybe now that Dr. Romines is finally gone we can get back to this level of greatness!!!

  • You are so right!

  • Great job! I just wish you had let it continue on for about 30 more seconds. ;-)

  • I wished i could have included the end of the cheer. But I had to re-do it 5 times to get in the 10 minute limit. thanks

  • Wow I thought I was hot shit in hs and college, but those charts were hella crazy. I got to get my horn outta storage- makes me' want to go back to college!

  • wow...the tag the drumline plays at about .47-.50 sounds EXACTLY like JSU's '95-98 verison of the cadence "Speeder" which was an arrangement of Spirit's Spider.

  • Those bands are great, but I think it's the HBCU marching band that pushes the south away from eveyone else in the country. SouthernU, FAMU, Jackson State and Grambling have rubbed off on the colleges like LSU (look up "LSU neck").

  • Yeah I agree completely. Yeah the North has great marching band like Michigan, James Madison, WVU, and others but I believe that the South has really pushed marching band and has perfected it. Mainly because football is such an "Southern" tradition making marching band also a "southern" tradition. I can't think of one UGA, Troy, or LSU game that doesn't involve the marching band haha. Go Southern Colleges!

  • i agree, there really isn't any other band in the SEC that can stand up with the Redcoats, maybe the Golden Band from Tigerland only because we (Troy) played them and they sounded pretty good. But hundreds of their fans stopped by just to tell the Sound that we were the best band to come to Death Valley. So you guys are an top in my opinion.

  • I love to the Red Coats but you have to give respect where respect is due the Troy State Marching Band can hold its own SOTS IS a awesome program

  • this year we had 330, which wasn't to much of a deviation from last year's numbers. and numbers do not make a band... i know small high school and college bands that sound amazing!

  • and there are many other bands around the nation that haven't received the sudler trophy yet... only 15 schools have gotten it. and yes the UGA band def deserves the Sudler Trophy! give it a few more years and i bet the Sudler people will be knocking on Troy's door sometime in the near future! thanks for the compliment too =)

  • SOTS is a nice band. The Redcoats are a Sudler Trophy Band.

  • We're around 420 now.
