I'm aware of hypnotic amnesia. Some subjects can be made to do things that they would later find to be embarrassing or humiliating.

@philbio66 Amnesia is a real effect, and can be induced in trance. However, you are right about one thing. While hypnosis can lower your inhibitions, you cannot be made to do something you would not be willing to do under any circumstances. These guys obviously didn't NOT want to.

I see no difference. Most hypnotists entertain audiences by getting the hypnotized subjects to make fools out of themselves.

I disagree. I don't believe the state of hypnosis induced by a hypnotist is natural. It's not natural to have no memory recall of what you did over the past hour. It's not natural to not to be able to recognize friends or family in the audience. It's not natural to have your pain censors turned off. It's not natural to do things in trance that you would never want nor would be willing to do under any other circumstances.

@philbio66 I'd just like to clarify. Trance is a 100% naturally occurring phenomenon. Being "hypnotized" simply implies the trance is induced by an operator.

the state of trance during is not natural. while in the natural state of hypnosis you're not susceptible to a person's suggestions.
