  • One of the greatest scenes ever in Doctor Who, brilliantly shot, acted and directed. I wish Graeme Harper had directed the full season instead of just one story. They should have given him a full season's contract after his work on Caves of Androzani.

  • ...this is perhaps the greatest Dr Who episode ever and the greatest scenes ever...Colin Baker was at his best, and Peri proved why she was one of the best companions ever, and Amy will never be as good or hot as her....Davros was at his most evil, using people as food to make money, and their heads as Imperial Daleks...Moffet would have ruined this episode...He has to go....

  • Shoud've been an excellent Peter Davison serial.

  • @MALONEYCAMFIELD "Dated" is a Compliment, what with Everything now being Safe, Bland, Dull, Over-Acted, & uncreative. They Turned the Daleks Voices down because these Daleks were "Altered Humans", & So were made to Sound more Humanoid. Not Like the New Daleks where Every Daleks just Sounds the Same; Put through a Ring Modulator & CRANCKED up to Full. I Suppose it's Alien to you isn't it? To See People Taking Risks? The Only Risk NU HU's taken, is making the Daleks look like Power Rangers. Shite.

  • THIS is how Dr Who should be. Not the Kissy Kissy Soap Opera bilge the New crap is.

If this was done on the New Series, they'd use CGI for the Explosion, & have a Long Drawn out Over Emotional Scene where the Girl cries with Murray's Bland 2nd rate Jerry Goldsmith PUMPED up to MAX Droning out all hope of any sort of subtlety. And knowing Steven Muppet, He'l Probably reffer to his Checklist of Clichés, & make the two Kiss aswel. Thank Fuck he wasn't in Charge of DW back then.

  • The greatest scene ever in Doctor Who

  • @outofthegreenmist Oops, I meant modern ears, not eras! LOL!

  • @outofthegreenmist Ironically, there is an item about this problem on the BBC website. This was prompted by Brian Cox's Wonders of the Universe series. There were some complaints recently, also, about too-loud music on Radio 4. Revelation of the Daleks is the earliest example of this I can personally remember. As I say, it probably doesn't sound that odd to modern eras, but in 1985 it was sometimes hard to concentrate on the story, especially when people were speaking in hushed tones.

  • @JackWolf10 At the time, some fans (who jokingly referred to this story - BECAUSE of the music - as 'The Daleks of Androzani') complained that the music was too intense and intrusive, especially in the (many) scenes in which the dialogue was rather quiet. Modern ears are more accustomed to almost continuous soundtrack music in TV drama. With modern TV's individual sounds are more easily discerned than on 80's sets with mono speakers. Some people still complain (ie. drumbeats over the news).

  • @JackWolf10 I don't understand your reply, just as you clearly didn't understand my comment.
