Larry Tatum began his study of Kenpo Karate in California in 1966, and in a career that has spanned decades, became one of the world's most widely recognized kenpo exponents. In 1984 he was named "Instructor of the Year" by Inside Kung-Fu magazine. Now, Larry Tatum reveals the dynamic principles of kenpo in a series of private lessons. With a strategy for literally every street situation, Tatum breaks down the moves and kenpo principles in a manner that can be readily understood by novices and masters alike. • I find it funny reading how people are searching for the perfect art, there is no such thing. What works for me may not work for you. Kenpo is part of who I am but I love taking bits from Aikido and small circle Jujitsu and some JKD. It is mostly about the person learning and much less about the teacher.

  • Grandmaster Tatum is a Kenpo superstar!!!

  • @Malzarin you have summarized it perfectly. congrats.

  • @newmedstudent - Double tap to the forehead system.

  • I have been well-versed in Shorinji Kempo and I've only watched this kind of Kenpo. I only wish we could see more of the connection alongside the Shaolin history. Like how is Kung Fu like Kenpo?

  • nice

  • WOW he's fast :O

  • i think it depends only by the moment.

  • I like the counter moves, very quick and he's no spring chicken. Good for him, good response.

But I wonder if he'd really be able to block the initial attack if it were on the street unexpected. This for me is where most arts fall down, it's ok in a demo but stopping the young moron at the bus stop when he's getting mouthy when his friends are there and he throws a punch with all that youthful energy and brashness. It's not going to be like in the dojo.

  • is any system fullproof?

  • his belly is more powerful you mean. "Grandmaster" Pick is a fat slob and a disgrace. Even you could kick his ass if you sparred with him and you know it.
