Teaching the riff and song structure to the guys at rehersal at kensington rehersal spaces which is gone now ! This song is like a boogie Jam in the vein of Johnny Winter , zz top , meets hendrix ! I wrote it about this band I had in LA. and How the lead singer just kept blowing the band , me and any hope of a career in music off to get high on crank or better known as crystal meth instead of doing his best and improving on the natural talents He had and could develop ! I tried to help him and get him motivated at the stonehill mansion where I was producing the band we put together called blackhouse . We were writing some great stuff and I was producing some demo's to get us a deal and it was working great heavy dark songs with massive guitar classic riffs and I had several managers and labels all interested in our songs and they were like Johnny when can we see the band and I said no problem let me go and book a show and I will call you up and let you know where and when ! So I go back to Jeremy and tell him Hey bro . I got a spec deal (free recording time) and two mangement companies want to see us and He just went into this I'm a loser vibe and dissappeared with a big bag of Meth with some married chick and Mrs. Stonehill , She was the benefactor of the band and paid for everything , recordings ,amps ,etc... and we lived in Her huge mansion out in Pasadena off of Oak Knoll Dr. anyways She goes looking for him and the cops find him He gets busted with the married chick and a big bag of meth and goes to prison for like 18 months ! It was just unbelievable and after I had worked for over a year on our music he just on porpose crashed and so I wrote Rock On and shopped my blues around town at the same time as I was shopping the blackhouse songs , playing all the drums and bass/guitars etc ... just in case something goes wrong and sure enough it did ! These meth heads you got to understand , stay up for weeks at a time and then they crash out and sleep for like 4-5 days after being up that long so while they slept I recorded my blues project as a safety in case my last attempt at heavy rock failed and I was flat broke and needed to rock on to the next gig and inside my head , I know that I am one of the baddest blues /rock guys out there you know growing up pulling heavyness and jams out of the strings and wood being the mountain man guitar gunslinger just blowing the doors off everybody ! Anyway , Rock on was about that experience and I was like see ya ! I got signed to another deal with eurotech management Bruce Caplin and we decided the best record I could make was back here in Maryland because Here Kevin had a great studio and his drum playing is the best and so "I just got to leave this town" like the lyric says and rock on and Bye Bye LA. after 9+ years in that hole and I ain't never gone back to that dump LA. since ! LA. The home of frauds , fakers and all other wierd wannabee goofballs and attention prostitutes screaming Look at me , look at me instead of , here is something great lets go to another level of inspiration etc ....

that was cool , you guys are great.. that riff would sound fat with a big chunky bonham like groove instead of following the riff though personally :P

Although it was mostly for other reasons, I never published again. At the same time, having seen the ugly, naked truth exposed, and not wanting to be a part of it, made giving up that particular dream pretty easy.

Don't let these type of folks push you around Laugh out loud and write it anyway and tell Him to go jump in the Lake ! All you got is your integrity , whatever happens do not never trade it in for nothing ! Who are you to stand for this dung !

I then asked him, hypothetically, how he'd feel or what might happen, if I printed that quote in my publication (#3 in the industry at the time)? His reply... "You become a very small man, back on the nothing (east) coast, who has nothing to do with the skateboard industry."

Here's a typical LA story... I once asked a prominent, well-known and very rich LA skateboarding executive about the unfortunately angry, hate-filled, anti-societal, disenfranchised outlook he was promoting among his youthful customer-base. His reply... "Sure! We deliberately try to separate children from their parents. It makes it easier to pick their pockets."

Nothing cheers me up more than a good "I got out of LA!" story. Years of experience in the skateboarding industry left me too familiar with and very disappointed by much of what I saw and many who I met in and from southern California, and LA feels like the unnatural heart of the whole shallow, amoral, money-grubbing, aren't-we-great, "any attention is good attention" freak show.
