I think they have more of a brother sister relation which has brought their friendship this far.

I think the major problem is that James Taylor's voice was very weak.
Mixing the performance live meant that everything else had to be toned down to in order to accentuate his voice as well as possible.

@catndryer: this is the result of being in high tech these days... a simplier sound got complicated when delivered... often guys on board sound engines think they know better because they know how to use it, but the truth is they don't really know how to balance things up to catch a good sound from great artists...

Taylors, transitions through the verses always made me feel great with those classic hammer on's through the chords I love it. Always works.
