Upon tasting the sweetness your body releases insulin to match up and neutralize the "sugar" when no sugar is there in reality to match up with this load of insulin the insulin which is also known as the "fat hormone" then stores itself as fat.... generally stomach fat.

I stopped drinking soda when I went to boarding school. The cafeteria only had juice and water. Now it been 3 years since leaving highschool and my main drink is water. I probaby drink 1or 2 cocacolas a year(no pepsi or anything flavored or clear) Its a bit refreshing. Because I drink it so infrequently it burns the back of my throat but usually thats exactly what i'm looking for when I start itching to drink it. I am wary of anything diet or sugar free.

Careful with juice, it has about the same amount of sugar per serving as soda (~30-35g), most companies add various types of sugar as well to make it taste better/be more addictive. Water is the best.

This is a fallacious statement - to ignore such a study because the test subject is not human, is to embrace stupidity or denial. We werent taught as children, the base of earth life is carbon, only to ignore studies like these as adults. Simple as that.
If something is poisoning your rat or bird, or dog, logically youd distance yourself as far from the source of poison as possible. So what is the difference with this study?

Lots of people are talking about this and the artificial sweetner "Aspartame" in particular and how it is effecting them negatively. Everyone has reports and studies. You just have to decide what is right for you.

I'm a testimony for artificial sweeteners causing weight gain.

For a while, I was using them alot. Pretty much everyday, I was drinking 4 diet drinks or cans of diet soda per day.

As a result of using these, I've gained 15 lbs. These sweeteners changed my metabolism and boosted my appetite.

I just quit artificial sweeteners, and my appetite is lower now, and my metabolism seems to be going back up.

When I was 12 my Dad made me eat a rat. I didn't like it even though he let me use ketchup on it. Seriously.
