ssd drives in netbooks can be pretty slow, especially the write speed

SSD disks arnt slower, infact most of them are as fast as WD raptor 74 in raid 0 configuration. Also, please scrap that bloated XP installed player, its a puffy app with way tomuch nonsence on it. VLC or Mediaplayer classic with the Defilerpak codec package is all you need to play it all smooth as silk. And dont bother with 1920×1080 video on a 1024x600 screen, it wastes power downscaling to fit on it. Even 720p wich is 1280x720 is a bit out of reach. Stick with DVD4 formats and it ll run it.

My 901 almost can't play back any video at all, not even in super performance. :S anyone know whats wrong?

1080p has a higher resolution (less visible pixels, less blurring)720p has a lower resolution and and has half as many pixels (half as much quality)Compared to 1080p. Only upper end HDTvs and monitors can display 1080p. Hope that helps.

Install CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) and use the Media Player Classic that comes with it.
I could play that same terminator 1080p trailer with NO lag at all in regular performance mode.

How much does 1080p performance improve if you overclock the atom to 1.8ghz?

I didn't overclock the atom much, but only choice "Super High Performance" in the setting. 1080p, no problem!

Thank you for the video. But isn't it obvious that both would be similar since both have almost the same hardware apart from the fact that 1000H has 2GB. this probably explains why the 1000H is smoother as you said.

Good, I got many people around the world also complain don't understand my review~~~ poor me.
My testing 1000H only has 1Gb ram and all the comfig are the same as 901 but only the screen size and 1000H is using hard drive.
901 using SSD should has a faster and smooth movie play. that's why I said 1000H is not bad compare to 901

AH I see now. 1000H uses a HD and 901 use SSD. I only realized after watching your other video about unboxing the 1000H.

Theoretically, SSD should faster than HD.
But I found my testing unit of 901 is not that fast. So I think my testing 901 has problem
