@grousemaster Hey, no worries man, it's a constructive criticism! That's how us fly fisherman become better sportsman! And you too.

If it's a choice you make - then make the right one. Rule of thumb is a pound a minute - more than that and you're overplaying the fish. Of course not all situations are created equal - really fresh fish in big water might extend things a few minutes. The Sullivan stretch is not big water. 30 minutes on a fish that size is retarted. The way I look at it is either you don't have the skills or don't care about the fish. But I'm no authority - I'm just a fisherman like you. Tight lines.

@grousemaster I understand that a fish like that shouldn't take that long to land but I wasn't the one fighting this salmon, this is my buddies father.. I do know they had high water that trip and if you look at the river it's not tiny. Anyway, no need to argue eh, lesson learned. Thanks for the feedback

30+ minutes? If you can't land a 10lb. salmon in 10-15 minutes you really need some better gear. Do the fish a favor and get em' in quicker than that. The NW ain't that big at Sullivan.

@grousemaster I don't think it has anything to do with the gear.. it's a choice you make, hustle him or play him out.. Not to be rude but lets have you hook a ten pounder, video tape it and show us how its done.
