  • wow, i'm blown away ! thanks for posting.

i've only ever heard Jelly Roll do this on the 1938 Library Congress recordings. Is that really Jelly singing, sounds very much different to his later voice.

any chance of the date / players on this ?

  • @IndependentGeorge76 Sidney de Paris (tp); Claude Jones (tbpreaching ); Sidney Bechet (ss); Happy Cauldwell (ts); Jelly Roll Morton (pvoc ); Lawrence Lucie (g); Wellman Braud (sb); Zutty Singleton (dpreaching ).

  • Amazing solo by Bechet here! (all the players are amazing, but man!) Thanks for posting. Time to get lost in YouTube . . . will start by following Bechet, but god knows where I'll end up.

  • the term jelly roll is very nasty, poor guy.

  • Thanks, man.

  • @BantuNation Dick Gregory plays him as he is in the Physc ward.

  • they are making a movie on Bolden. I swear if white people dont talk about the creators of the music "AFrican Americans", and show how/where the music comes from I'm gonna lead a protest against the movie.

  • This tune is perfect.

  • You forgot Albert Nicholas, cl.

  • The Father of Jazz

  • 1939 recording in New York. This refer to the legendary Buddy Bolden, and the fact that the cornet (trumpet) players used to play out of the window to attract passing customers into the "Cat Houses" or the Night Clubs etc... like a play off with the rival bands... down in Storyville .
