If the GARDNER oval plates on the cylinder heads are original then it is definitly a 3LW. If it had KROMHOUT on these plates then it would be a 3LS.
-
as i can see it could just as well be a 3LS.
-
It's a 3LW. All LW series had 4.25 bore by 6inch stroke. LX and LXB engines had 4.75 inch bore by 6 inch stroke only built as 6 and 8 cylinder engines.
-
The engine is definitly a 3 LW, they only did LX's in 6 or 8 cylinder.
-
Looks a bit small for an LW, probably an LX.
-
About early 1940's vintage?
-
I think that engine might be a gardner 3cylinder engine model 3LW.

Whoops. Fancy thinking it was a 4 cyl. I would have said it might be an LW but didn't want to put my foot in it. Too late now! Thanks for your comments.
