@megannfarrell use ur puffer? caffeine helps too, when i have an asthma attack i obviously use my puffer and take the pills if it's really bad, but blac coffee, without any sugar or milk, opens up the airways. it tastes horrible but when i had an attack at my friend's house and i didnt have my puffer, them pouring black coffee down my throat kelp me alive for the 5-10 minutes when my mom brought the stuff

If one has those allergy/cold-like symptoms, they are not being caused by asthma. It is those symptoms which is causing the asthma.
I have asthma, but so long as I keep my allergies under control with the, as needed, use of Nasacort, and making sure I wash my hands so as to avoid colds, I almost never get asthma. Other things to be careful of or avoid: pet dander, exercizing in cold weather, autumn leaves, strong perfumes/colognes.
