@Stillwater900 The rating is 1 man's opinion only. Pain varies according to is venom sac full & fully discharged into sting; sting site; tolerance of victim (stings by previous species do add some immunity). The Japanese hornet was NOT on his "list" also caterpillars are insects too! Puss caterpillar is highly rated for severity; lonomia; and wattle cup caterpillar they sting by spines not stingers, but are still stings; assassin bug has severe bite (toxins) he does NOT "know!"

That was a great video of a beautiful insect, you are so lucky to have something that unique around your home. Well done for letting it go like that, unlike some frightened individuals who forget that they are actually at the top of the food chain.
