The fluid flow and heat transfer in the fluid, core, and wire windings have been computed with the OpenSource Finite Element Code PETSc-FEM http://www.cimec.org.ar/petscfem . The FEM mesh has been highly refined in the solid-fluid interface due to the high Prandtl number of the oil. The results shown correspond to the warm-up essay on a distribution transformer of 13.2/0.4 kV, 315kvA.
