League of Reason, established 2009, is a multi-author blog written by a collection of Youtubes most popular freethinkers. Their aims are to promote reason, critical thinking and the public understanding of science, as well as taking a stand against censorship; particularly by religiously motivated individuals and organisations.

Initially, the site was set up as a discussion forum to combat a plague of censorship against freethinkers, orchestrated by a number of religious Youtube users. Their tactics included the employment of votebots (software designed to autonomously lower the ratings of videos) and the filing of false DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) claims in an effort to have critical material removed from the site.

The forum proved to be a successful and popular resource, not only for fighting censorship, but also for the discussion of a wide variety of topics. It flourished into a strong community for like-minded people all over the world.

Today, the League of Reason community continues to grow, as does the excellent team of committed contributors. Together we endeavour to protect and promote the voice of reason, and you are welcome to join.

  • I find it amusing that someone like Hovind who believes that the earth is less than 10,000 years old will say "if you go back 25,000 years" at 2:33 in the video.

  • The sad thing is that the layman is easily duped by creationists like Hovind. They know even less about science than he does, and can eat up whatever he tells them, hence the need for more science education.

  • Hovind's Deliverance accent pisses me off almost as the bullshit that comes forth from it.

  • @pgfracing Hi! Do you really believe in geocentrism? I've never met one of you before. My niece is doing a report on How Idiots Survive in the Modern Age for her grade school class. Can she interview you?

  • @98DevilDog79

I sorry to reply so late.

    1. Jesus might've been a mine-worker. However, from his followers he expected to sell EVERYTHING and follow him! How would one work? (You might want to keep the "dipshit" for yourself).

    2. If you think you can only invest in banks - well, you're too ignorant for this discussion (How does your foot taste?)

    3. God gave us laws. Then, when people were following them (stoning the hooker), JC said that only the sinless can judge! Shall we close all courts?!!

  • Hey to all you readers with your heads screwed on straight, pretend you had a gun to your head and had to PROVE the heliocentric model was right to some contemporary fool who's stuck in the dark ages. Wouldn't all the spacecraft we've sent to the outer planets prove it conclusively? If we sent a lander to Mars assuming the truth of the HELIOcentric model when the geocentric model was actually true, then surely the spacecraft would have no chance of actually going to Mars. But they do.

  • @pgfracing

Don't look for it in the bible, you won't find it there.

  • @leisulin your right we have the capabilities to measure that accurate. That was quite foolish of me. I will try and get you some more reliable information.

  • @SpaceOdyssey56

Yeah, the trouble is there's a lot of insane, backward christians out there who haven't joined us here in the 21 century.

  • @pgfracing

Well, the highest resolution commercial satellite can resolve objects as small as 41 cm from an altitude of 684 kilometers. I just got this from a Science News article from two years ago. That's an object 20 times larger but it can be resolved from a distance of approximately 130 times farther. So, yeah, I'd say they can. You're the one who quoted the figure 0.7687 ± 0.0003 arcsec. It speaks for itself. By the geocentric model, it should be ZERO, not from 0.7684 to 0.7690 ...

  • @leisulin At this point, I've stopped aruging with idiots like him, that have fallen so deep into that hole of ignorance, it's pointless. His kind will die out, as will his religion. As for now, keep fighting the good fight.

  • @pgfracing

I mean, c'mon. Your entire objection to the stellar parallax evidence for heliocentrism is that such measurements are difficult. We could just as easily say "climbing Mt. Everest is difficult" but we can't conclude from that that no one has ever climbed it. In fact we know people have climbed it, lots of people. If geocentrism is correct, then the parallax angle for Proxima Centauri should be exactly 0 arcsec. Instead, we know it's between 0.7684 and 0.7690 arcsecs.
