India is the world's largest market driven Democracy of the world, and is expected to rank 3 by 2010, just after the US and China.
With an extreme diversity of consumerism sweeping across the country, the Footwear Industry is among one of Indias most important markets, for both domestic and export.
India's huge USD 5 billion footwear market is growing rapidly at around 10% a year.
Exports figures show that the total exports from Northern India alone exports 33% of all leather footwear, 49% of n o n - l e a t h e r footwear and 59% of all leather.
It is on this high note that FOOTWEAR - MATERIALS MANUFACTURING & TECHNOLOGY 2009 the first APLF event in India, was launched in the market to serve the giant footwear and Leather Industry of India.
FMM&T 2009 held at INDIA EXPO CENTRE, in Northern Indias Greater Noida, was organized by APLF Ltd. which is a JV between UBM and SIC in partnership with IFCOMA (one of the leading trade associations of the Indian footwear industry). The event was also endorsed by Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) Ministry Of Commerce & Industry and supported by the Council for Leather Exports - India (CLE), Indian Shoe Federation (ISF), Agra Footwear Manufactures & Exporters Chambers (AFMEC)
For the last 25 years APLF Ltd has been providing the definitive meeting and trading place for the global leather industry with its annual MM&T event, primely located in Hong Kong. In the last decade, APLF has also opened up a wealth of opportunities in China with its ACLE fair in Shanghai, Chinas leading fair for leather and materials. .
FMM&T, APLFs newest fair,, seems destined down the same path as MM&T and ACLE . The 2009 event proved to be the perfect platform to showcase and share both the material as well as the manufacturing technology experience.
Having opened its doors to thousands of footwear professionals and exhibitors from around the world, the event was deemed a roaring success.
FMM&Ts Colorful Exhibitor Profile included Raw Materials such as, Hides & Skins, Semi-Finished & Finished Leather, Synthetic Materials & Man-made Leather, Natural Fibers and Materials, High Performance Fabrics, Finishing Chemicals & Dyes, Release Papers, Components for Shoes, Leather Garments, Handbags and Travelware such as: Plastic Lasts, Midsoles, Toe Puff and Counters, Shoe Uppers, And laces, Eyelets, Fabrics, Buckles, Shank, Zippers, etc. (for both footwear and accessories), Shoe Machinery Equipment & Tools, CAD-CAM, Design and Supply Chain Management, Software's, Technology, Testing Laboratories
The Visitor Profile included: Leading Manufacturers of Footwear, Leather Garments
Handbags, Leather Goods and Travel ware, Importers and Distributors of Leather and, Synthetic Materials, Components and Accessories, Designers, Brand Owners. FMM&T attracted over 4000 attendees and 140 exhibitors participating from Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Italy, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE, USA, besides India
FMM&T 2009 took place in Greater Noida near New Delhi, which is the heart of Northern India and is home to the largest number of footwear manufactures in the country. Free coaches were also provided at various key locations in Delhi to further facilitate buyers attendance.

FMM&T 2009, will continue to provide a platform for both Indian and International manufacturers to keep abreast of the latest trends in the manufacturing of footwear - from concept through to the finished product.

It will also continue to build a perfect bridge between footwear manufacturers and component producers in the vast Indian footwear market. Moving forward, FMM&T promises to be the most dynamic GATEWAY to the second largest footwear industry in the world i.e. INDIA.
