Wow - I think that was a 90 feet wave hitting. Lucky you are alive with the power those waves have measured at the square inch of steel.

Ive lost containers too.
Pacific '98,not to mention how many damaged over the years.

so the sea waves caused that,.. holly,...

why was the ship straight towards the waves?? especially when u don`t have a good wave breaker ???

I am a C/O myself.
Compared to the other waves I saw in this film, this high wave was far higher then the others.
But I already know what the insurance company says...."Your speed was to high Captain, whtih weather like this you should have reduced your speed more!"

@ganjalogic Got you man. My dad is a merchant Captain, and remember he always told me that in a storm, you always put the "chin" or the "shoulder" to the wave.
-
@ufousa69 To elaborate a little, you always head directly into waves, especially large ones, that way you take the least damage. If the wave hits you from the side your vessel will be capsized or severely damaged. If you think about it the bow of the ship is designed to plow through water, so it's best to "take it on the chin" as it were.

You know it's a big sea when you get spray on the bridge windows in a ship like that! Wow!
