@metallian84 Just because the effects are 'cheesy' is not explained away by them being made in 1983. Compare the optical photography to that seen in 'Return of the Jedi' made the same year. Look at the reality and dynamism of the speeder bike shots in that same movie. Just because something is CGI does not mean it is better than what has come before, or even good. Sorry to jump on this but I see many comments like this on 'youtube', and CGI in and of itself does not it better .

@awol1703 What are you talking about? When I said cheesy effects I didn't mean to degrade the movie itself :) I have nothin againts preCGI effects, most of the time they are even much closer to my heart than fuckedup CGI :)

Good honest adventure film. Loved it as a kid and always catch it on TV as an adult. And as far as comparing the effects to Jedi go.... ever heard of the word budget?.... or financial? lol
