Piano - Igor Zhukov, USSR Radio and TV Orchestra conducted by Alexander Dmitriev.
Medtner's Concerto, laid out in a single movement, is an original adaptation of sonata form, the work falling into three sections equivalent to the movements of a traditional concerto: the first, an elaborate exposition; the second a set of variations; and the third, an extended coda preceded by a brief recapitulation. Horowitz once planned on recording this concerto, but unfortunately never did. Nevertheless, Igor Zhukov's interpretation is fantastic.
Great ! sensitive ! One of the best pianist of the 20st century ...
