sharp bass... what brand??
hillsdeville 3 years ago
It has an aluminum body and was probably made by the "Aluminum Musical Instrument Company" of Ann Arbor, Michigan about 75 years old. David recently bought a new set of strings for it, but it sounds so good with old strings, he is afraid to change them. It still has the same strings that were on it when he got it 30 years ago.

Hi karentrevor,
I know what you mean.
We really did this as a spoof on a popular rock song from 1970, called "Funk 49."
Thanks,
Steve

Hey that's one of those old aluminum upright basses, isn't it?

Yes, its an antique aluminum bass. The entire body is aluminum with a normal wooden neck. It has a great sound. It's pretty tough too, and doesn't seem to require any special treatment. David carries it in the back of his pickup truck. David prefers to not carry it in the rain, but I doubt it would hurt it.
