I like the Metallica cover. Thats what brought me here.

How can anyone possibly think that Metallica's cover of this song is better? I was a Metallica fan before Nick Cave way back in the 90s, so I'm no Metallica hater. However, I can assure you that their version is just terrible. It lacks feeling and what I think is the overall intent of the original song. I'm not sure anyone can really cover Nick Cave for the simple fact that he conveys a certain mix of emotion in his songs better than anyone else on the planet could possibly dream of doing.

Seriously, who gives a fuck about Metaliica nowdays? They haven't made anything good since 1991... And this modern metal shit (maybe with exeption of not-as-bad-as-Some-Kind-Of-Mon­ster "Death Magnetic" albgum) includes "Garge Inc." Cave still makes great music after over 30 years on stage. Metallica now is just driven by succes of their first 5 great albums.

Nick Cave has good songs, but they sound so much better when people cover them. The Mercy Seat is much better when Johnny Cash does it, and Metallica's version of this song is so much better.

The two versions are really completely different songs. Metallica conveys a sexy, seductive tone, while Nick Cave makes it creepy, like you're about to get raped by a peeping tom
