You got the background story a little wrong. It's from Visionaries & Darth Maul wasn't fixed by the emperor. In fact he no longer has allegiance to the emperor & his sole purpose is to find Obi-1 for revenge. Obi-1 smashed his head with his fist and broke his horns during the battle and was ready to stick the lightsaber into his head but hesitated. Luke's uncle then shoots Darth Maul in the head & tells Obi-1 to stay away from Luke forever. Obi-wan says he'll watch over Luke from a distance.

@CTEstudios1 What is the ratio of power (both with knowledge of the force and skills with the lightsaber) from Vader to The Emperor? I understand Vader has more midi chlorians, but would his physical and emotional state allow him to be as powerful as he could be?

@plm3d Yes, the Visionaries series is not official canon. The Clone Wars borrows many ideas from the Expanded Universe, specially comics, but doesn't follow them to the letters. Many bits and peaces will have to be retconned later, but this (great) Visionaries story was never canonical to begin with. You´re 100% right, they'll give the "offical" and final explanation in the final episodes of Season 4.
