Looking at some of the victims of the 228 Massacre of 1947.

Part 2 tells us about artist Chen Cheng-po (陳澄波). He studied in Japan and taught in Shanghai, so he was one of the few locals who spoke the dialect of Beijing (at the time, not Putonghua). He was tricked into meeting with KMT officials on the pretense of acting as an intermediary between them and the locals. Instead, they took him to the police station. He was shot and killed two weeks later.

Be careful to distinguish what's real footage and what's a reenactment.

Spoken: Mandarin and Taiwanese
Subtitles: Hanzi

  • 228 Victory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Taiwan could use a new 228 to rub out some dpp today

  • @CaptainCool07 Thanks for demonstrating for other viewers the unself-reflective mentality of someone whose YouTube profile says: "The pro Taiwan independence DPP terrorist group needs to be destroyed before they 1. blow something up killing innocent people. […]"

  • The US government has been fully aware of all crimes committed by KMT party regime from 1947 to 1987, but the US government chose to close ears to all the outcry and appeals for help by Taiwan people. Taiwan (Formosa) was long since betrayed and forsaken by General MacArthur and by US government, simply because the US government needed someone else to fight against the growing communists' force in Far East.

  • kmt (chinese nationalist party) need to get the fuck out of taiwan

  • @TheDopenessism Not exactly. Here's what I wrote after the most recent big election:

    - - -

Adding the ballots for all five municipalities, the DPP got a total of 3,772,373 votes (49.87% -- very nearly an absolute majority) compared to the Chinese KMT's 3,369,052 (44.54%).

Search for the post "Taiwan's 2010 municipal election results" on the "Taiwan Matters!" blog to read more, and please encourage Taiwanese to continue this trend.

  • @icefrappe Its a shame that most ppl in Taiwan vote for them...

  • not only that.

US held grudges against ethnic taiwanese because a lot of taiwanese supported the japanese empire during world war 2. they saw taiwanese as the enemies

  • hey guys, do you know you'll get beaten in the streets of taiwan now by the police(especially taipei) if you walk around with a taiwanese flag or a shirt that says taiwanese?

  • looks like DDP tryna use this to get rid of KMT
