Probably the 2nd most popular track on this album (next to Summer in the City).
It's the 9th track on Hums. This one show's Lovin' Spoonful's more country side.

Hi Stephen. Upon reading your comment I was concerned that I may have offended you or ruined your full enjoyment of the song. So, I asked a few friends of their opinion on the matter and they conferred with you; me and my "vid" "sux." I sincerely hope I can make it up to you in some form.
Yours
Desmon

yes, they did. The story behind it is that they were in Nashville, mid-60's, to do a show as part of one of their tours. Put up at some hotel, there was a guy in the lobby, guitarist, country, hired to play the lounge there. Just some guy. But he could play stuff like none of them could, he was really good, but just some guy dong a hotel lobby. So they were inspired by how many really good pickers there were in Nashville, and wrote this tune.

I think they were talking about cool people, not kitties. I insist you take out images the furry variety.

That's knee-high, a small child. A musical proverbial knee-high.

Desmond, don't take it too hard about Stephen Adkins comment. You left a great reply :).. but you could also use Nehi (like grape was Radar's choice and 'perverbial nehi' is in the song lol ) There are many upbeat comments on your page and Cyclist0623 was partly correct.Sauquoit13456 did his homework and showed respect for our passed-on musicians :) and so many other great posts here. All you negative-wave folks go away and stop negative waves man!(OddBall from Kelly's Heroes)

This song has a special place in my heart, as it was the first song I ever learned to play on my guitar (all 3 or 4 chords!) circa, early 70's. The guitar(s) are gone, my skills are gone, but the song lives on in my heart.

That, or they were writing about pickers in Nashville.
