Yamadera, literally "Mountain Temple", is a temple in Yamagata Japan that requires climbing a staircase of over 1100 steps to reach the top! Checkout the climb, and the Ryūshaku-ji Temple (立石寺) at the top!

  • @DrJeepney You should probably allow at least 3 hours in Yamadera itself. Assuming you're a relatively swift walker, that'll give you enough time to walk from the train station, to the stairs, up to the top, and back down. If you allow 4 hours, you'll surely have enough time to even have lunch.

  • COOL, how many hours should I allow to visit yamadera? I might go there next month, but I am on a tight schedule

  • @graycam Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! And indeed it is a lovely place!

  • Cool vid. I've been to Yamadera a couple of times. Lovely place!
